DANVILLE, Va. (March 22, 2010) - Danville Regional Medical Center (DRMC) recently announced that an agreement has been reached between the Schumacher Group and Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield to provide in-network coverage to Anthem-insured patients visiting the emergency department at DRMC.  The contract became effective on March 15.

“We are very pleased that an agreement between Anthem and the Schumacher Group has been reached,” said DRMC CEO Eric Deaton.  “I believe this partnership is one that our patients and the community will be very pleased with and find much easier to understand.”

The Louisiana-based Schumacher Group has managed Danville Emergency Group, the emergency physician group at DRMC, since June 2009.

Anthem-insured patients who have questions, comments or concerns regarding their explanation of benefits for visits to the DRMC emergency department since June 2009 may contact Deborah Joyce, DRMC Business Office Director, at (434) 799-2292.

Danville Regional is the leading medical center in the Dan River Region of Virginia and North Carolina, providing open heart surgery and advanced cancer treatment. Approximately 140 physicians are on the medical staff. The medical center employs approximately 1,200 people.
