Critical Need for All Blood Types

Blood supplies at the Danville Regional Blood Donor Center have reached
critically low levels. During the first three weeks of June (June 1 thru June 21),
Danville Regional Medical Center transfused 361 units of blood in meeting the
needs of the community. Currently, the Blood Donor Center is in need of all
blood types, especially type O positive.

Danville Regional’s Blood Donor Center is not the only Donor Center facing this
problem. Blood donation centers across the country are also in critical need of
donors, especially since the summer months pose a challenging time for blood
collections.

DRMC is asking for the community’s help. Area residents are asked to donate
blood (especially those with type O positive). Donors will be able to take
advantage of the Blood Donor Center’s ongoing give-aways, which currently
include a drawing for a $100 gas card and a summer vacation package.

Blood Donations are needed now. The Blood Donor Center is open:
Mon/Thu/Fri: 8:30 am - 4 pm.; Tues/Wed 10 am - 5:30 pm.
