Danville Regional Hires Registration and Admitting Director

Carol Kallenberger Comes from Texas

DANVILLE, VA - (January 3, 2007) - Carol Kallenberger has joined Danville Regional Medical Center as Director of Registration and Admissions.

Kallenberger comes to Danville Regional from Longview Regional Medical Center in Texas and has more than 25 years of experience working in hospitals and other acute care facilities. "I am very excited about the opportunity to join such a dedicated team of physicians, nurses and support staff," said Carol. "Danville seems like such a wonderful place to live. I've recently purchased a home here and can't wait to become involved in the community."

Kallenberger supervises a team of 37 people who assist patients and families with the registration and admission process. This includes financial review and assistance with obtaining financial resources, if needed. "The ultimate goal of our team is to provide exceptional service to all of our patients, families, physicians and to one another. We do this by focusing on the three A's of admissions: attitude, accuracy and accountability. Nothing is more important than providing quality patient care and superior customer service. That's what we're here for - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week."

Kallenberger and her team are also committed to obtaining accurate information from patients before they arrive at the Medical Center. "We want to exceed the needs of our patients and will work hard to strengthen our registration process to make it more patient-friendly and more time efficient. The key is to work with patients and their insurance carriers prior to patients entering the hospital" she says.

"Carol has a wealth of hospital experience in a variety of settings, which has equipped her with a deep understanding of her job here at Danville Regional," said Art Doloresco, Chief Executive Officer. "Her enthusiasm has already spread throughout the admissions and registration process. She will be a great support to her staff and a strong advocate for our patients. "

With nearly 13,000 admissions and more than 32, 000 outpatient visits per year, Kallenberger has "a significant role in presenting the Medical Center to patients and their families," said Doloresco. "We understand that very few people actually desire to be admitted to the Medical Center. However, when it is necessary, we want their experience to be as pleasant as possible. Carol's job is to make sure that happens."

A native of Eastern Iowa and "all those cornfields," Kallenberger began her career registering patients and dispatching ambulances at Jackson County Public Hospital in Maquoketa, Iowa. Later, she was a Patient Accounts Representative and Financial Counselor at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

She moved to Texas and worked in business offices and admissions at hospitals in Corpus Christi, Dallas and, for the past six years, in Longview.
