You can valet your car at the airport or at a restaurant, and now patients and family members can valet their cars at Danville Regional Medical Center (DRMC).
Effective Sept. 1, DRMC began providing free valet service at the front entrance of the hospital from 6 a.m. - 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Patients and visitors should follow the “Free Valet Parking” signs to the main entrance of the hospital. There, they will be greeted by a staff member who will give them a tag so they can retrieve their vehicle upon leaving the hospital. It is not a requirement to tip the employees of the valet service, but tips are accepted if the service is justified.
“Providing our patients and their families with this service will make it more convenient for them to gain access to the hospital,” said Director of Engineering and Safety Officer Clint Treadway.
Should a patient or visitor leave after the normal service hours, they can visit the information desk just inside the main lobby of the hospital to request their vehicle. A security officer on duty will then retrieve the vehicle for the visitor or patient.
“We believe providing this service demonstrates our commitment to providing quality care for those in our community,” said DRMC Chief Executive Officer Eric Deaton. “Offering valet car service allows our patient’s families and visitors to better focus on the needs of the patient.”
Parking Management Company of Nashville, Tennessee has hired a number of local residents to provide the valet service. The company also provides similar services at Danville Regional’s sister hospital, Clinch Valley Medical Center, in Richlands, Va.
