Replacement announced next week

Danville, VA - Feb. 19, 2010 - Danville Regional Medical Center Board of Trustees Chairman Dr. Frank Campbell today announced the resignation of Chief Executive Officer Jerel Humphrey.  Humphrey has been the CEO since October 2007.

"We appreciate the many contributions Jerel has made to this organization including creating a residency program with the Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine and continuing the affiliation with Duke Medicine for our high-quality cardiac program," Campbell said.

Campbell further added that the position will be replaced, and he expects that decision will be announced by the end of next week. In the interim, Campbell will work with the present administrative team at DRMC to ensure a smooth transition.  "The community needs to be assured that DRMC will adhere to its mission of providing healthcare excellence close to home," Campbell said.

"We will continue to focus on providing a place where patients choose to come for healthcare, where physicians want to practice and where associates want to work," he added.

"I have appreciated the support of the dedicated associates and those in the Dan River community.  It`s time for new opportunities for me and my family," Humphrey said.

Danville Regional is the leading medical center in the Dan River Region of Virginia, providing open heart surgery and advanced cancer treatment. Approximately 140 physicians are on the medical staff. The medical center employs approximately 1,200 people.
