Danville Regional Medical Center Radiologic Technology Program Honors 16 Graduates

Danville Regional Medical Center’s School of Health Professions Radiologic Technology Program recently awarded 16 students with their two-year certificate upon completion of the program.  There was a 100 percent graduation rate for the 2010 program.

“We had an extraordinary group of talented students this year,” said Radiologic Technology Program Director Kevin Murray.  “All of our students are from the Dan River region, and I am proud to see them take the skills and knowledge they have gained here and use it to help this community and others around the region.”

Along with certificates, there were individual awards presented as well. Tracy Johnson, Rebecca Phillips and Monica Stephens each earned perfect 4.0 GPAs and received the Academic Achievement Award. Phillips also received the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) Certificate of Excellence Award, voted on by the faculty. Johnson was awarded the Clinical Excellence Award. This award is voted on by the radiologic technology staff from their clinical sites.

Four technologists representing Danville Regional clinical affiliates also received awards.  Each year, students vote on a technologist from one of the clinical affiliates to receive the Technologist of the Year Award.  This year’s award winners were

  • Lindsay Moss, RT - Danville Regional Medical Center
  • Cindy Moore, RT - Danville Diagnostic Imaging Center
  • Tammy Bennett, RT - Memorial Hospital of Martinsville/Henry County
  • Tim Hill, RT - Morehead Memorial Hospital

Bennett also received the overall Technologist of the Year Award.

“All 16 of the graduating students displayed a significant amount of drive and dedication to achieve the goals we set for this program,” said Murray. “It was a joy and an honor to have the opportunity to teach these fine young adults.  I know they will have long and successful careers in their future.”

The DRMC Radiologic Technology Program began in 2003 in response to a shortage of radiologic technologists in the Dan River and Piedmont region.

Danville Regional is the leading medical center in the Dan River Region of Virginia and North Carolina. Approximately 140 physicians are on the medical staff. The medical center employs approximately 1,200 people.  For additional information, visit http://www.danvilleregional.com.
