DANVILLE, Va. (Feb. 2, 2011) - Dr. Punit Baveja has joined the medical staff at Danville Regional Medical Center (DRMC) as an internal medicine doctor. He is currently practicing at Piedmont Internal Medicine, Inc., specializing in Infectious Diseases. Dr. Baveja previously served as Attending Physician at New Horizons Family Health Services, a multi-specialty clinic located in Greenville, S.C.
Dr. Baveja has extensive and varied training as a health professional. He received his doctor of internal medicine from The Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y. and is board-certified in internal medicine. Upon graduation, Dr. Baveja completed a two-year program of Infectious Diseases at the University of Kentucky, Chandler Medical Center, in Lexington, Ky.
Dr. Baveja also served as a fellow of Infectious Diseases at the University of Kentucky, Chandler Medical Center where he conducted consultations and patient evaluations requiring expertise in antibiotic management and dosing, as well as treatment recommendations with various antimicrobials. He also evaluated and treated patients with various infections, HIV/AIDS, Opportunistic Infections, soft tissue and osteomyelitis, fungal infections and general cases of Infectious Diseases on an out-patient basis.

Dr. Baveja began his career as a resident medical officer at Dr. Sita Bhateja’s Nursing Home. He received his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from The Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences in Bangalore, India.
