On May 3, Danville Regional Medical Center honored nurses, retired nurses, nurses’ aides and unit secretaries during Nurses’ Week.
More than 60 were on hand and recognized by Danville Mayor Sherman Saunders, DRMC’s Chief Nursing Officer Debbie Clark and members of the American Legion Post 325 for their healing ways, according to a DRMC news release.
“Thank you for all that you do every day, 24/7,” Saunders said. “You are the healing hand of God for mankind and this community, and we appreciate all that you do.”
Saunders presented them a proclamation, asking all residents to honor nurses and their efforts to improve our health-care system.
“During our week of recognizing nurses, we pause to realize how trusted nurses really are in our society. Our nation’s nurses rank first for their honesty and integrity, with 82 percent of Americans ranking them ‘high’ or ‘very high,’ according to a 2005 Gallup Poll,” said DRMC Chief Nursing Officer Debra Clark.
