The Danville Family YMCA moves closer to its goal of opening a new and larger facility with its largest capital campaign donation thus far.
Danville Regional Medical Center and LifePoint Hospitals, Inc. presented the YMCA with a check for $100,000 Thursday as its first installment of the $500,000 the local hospital pledged to the capital campaign.
“The YMCA is so thankful for this partnership with Danville Regional Medical Center,” local YMCA Executive Director and CEO Sarah Folmar said. “It really shows their commitment to this community by supporting the YMCA.”
DRMC’s donation will go toward the tentatively named Danville Regional Health and Wellness Center inside the new YMCA facility.
The center will house more than 100 pieces of exercise equipment, free weights, a stretching area and fitness testing.
The Danville Family YMCA is finalizing details of the location for the new facility and will make an announcement soon, Folmar said.
