CME Program Receives Re-Accreditation for Four Years.
The Continuing Medical Education (CME) Program at Danville Regional Medical Center has received re-accreditation from the Medical Society of Virginia (MSV) Intrastate Accreditation Committee, scoring 47 out of a possible 47 points, the highest accreditation level a provider can earn.
Dr. Michael Moore, Director of Medical Education, said, “The DRMC CME Program received a perfect numerical score and the maximum number of commendations possible from the MSV site visitors. We are extremely proud of this recognition.” A commendation represents program excellence beyond the usual standard of performance.
DRMC is the only MSV CME provider in the Commonwealth that has earned the maximal number of possible review points during a re-accreditation site visit. There are 13 CME Providers in Virginia. The accreditation process confirms that the DRMC program follows all the Essential Elements of CME. Some of the Elements include utilization of needs assessment data, communication of objectives and activities to faculty and participants, objective measurement of the effectiveness of CME activities, and a well organized program with the necessary medical information resources. Danville received exemplary compliance in all the Essential CME Elements in which exemplary compliance may be earned.
“We are very pleased to receive re-accreditation from the Medical Society of Virginia,” said DRMC CEO Jerel Humphrey. “This acknowledges the hard work and tremendous effort the CME Department has put into making this program a success.”
The point system was developed by the Medical Society of Virginia Intrastate Accreditation Committee and only applies to MSV accredited providers. The number of points a MSV accredited provider may earn varies from organization to organization. The current re-accreditation extends through February 22, 2012.
