DANVILLE, Va. (Sept. 10, 2009) - Danville Regional Medical Center announced Richard F. Smith, M.D. has joined its medical staff as an ENT, working at Danville ENT Associates.
Since 1978, Dr. Smith has practiced otolaryngology, head & neck surgery and otolaryngic allergy at his private solo office in Eden, N.C.
“Dr. Smith will make an excellent addition to our staff,” said Jerel Humphrey, DRMC CEO. “He brings many years of experience to DRMC and will be able to provide the residents of this region with top-notch care.”
Dr. Smith has a broad background as an ENT and has attended numerous continuing medical education conferences and meetings in otolaryngology, head & neck surgery, endoscopic sinus surgery, cochlear implants and otolaryngic allergy, all of which are his specific practice interests. In addition, he has held several professional positions such as department and division chairman at hospitals in North Carolina and Kentucky, as well professional memberships in the American Medical Association and the North Carolina Medical Society.

Dr. Smith received his bachelor’s degree in biology from Millikin University, and his doctorate in medicine from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. He and his wife, Mary Gus, have three children, Kyle, Kevin and Kathryn.
