Growing up in Southern California, she combined her interest in science and the guidance of her pediatrician to develop the desire to be a physician. "I've always wanted to help people," she says.

Today, her dream has come true. Dr. Gray, an obstetrician-gynecologist, has joined Danville Regional Healthcare for Women.

She chose the Danville area to begin her career because she has friends in the Piedmont region of Virginia and North Carolina. "I've received a warm welcome here. People are so friendly. They go out of their way to help you. They even take you to where you are going when you need directions," she adds.

After spending some summers in Virginia Beach, Dr. Gray chose Hampton University, where she received her Undergraduate degree. She earned her Medical degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN and completed her residency at the University of Connecticut.

Education, faith and travel are important interests in her life.

She hopes to speak to organizations about women's health. She has a heart for young women. She is particularly interested in educating about the problems created by early sexual activity and teenage pregnancy.

"Teenagers do not understand the implications of early sexual activity. They experience many problems and have an increased risk for disease, including infections and cancer," she says.

She has traveled on medical missions every couple of years. She enjoyed her last visit to Nigeria. "I've gained more than I've given to them. Their faith has increased my faith," she says. "Prayer is an intrinsic part of every aspect of their lives."

In her own practice in Danville, in addition to relying on her excellent training, she trusts the Lord to "guide me in making the right decisions." She said she would be honored to pray with a patient, adding "I don't take off my faith when I come to work."
