DANVILLE, Va. (Sept. 15, 2009) - Danville Regional Medical Center recently announced the addition of Dr. Alise Magnuson to its medical staff. Dr. Magnuson will be affiliated with Children’s Health Care Center, located at 201 South Main St., Suite 3100.

Magnuson began practicing pediatrics at a primary care center in 1998 in Anchorage, Alaska. She most recently served as the Director of the Pediatric and Adolescent Medical Office at Starkey Medical Center in Roanoke, Va.

“I am delighted to join DRMC and continue the high quality of care provided to patients here,” said Dr. Magnuson.  “My objective is not just to treat patients, but to become involved in this wonderful community as well.”

An avid volunteer in prior residences, Dr. Magnuson has received two awards for outstanding community service. She previously served on the Alaska C.A.R.E.S. Child Abuse Evaluation Center Management team and the Alaska Native Child-at-Risk committee.

“Not only is DRMC gaining a terrific pediatrician in Dr. Magnuson, but also someone whose talents and expertise will extend beyond the hospital and into the community,” said Jerel Humphrey, DRMC Chief Executive Officer.  “I know Dr. Magnuson’s unique background will be a valuable asset to our team.”

Magnuson received Board Certification from the American Board of Pediatrics in 2005. She received a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Arizona’s College of Medicine and studied further at its Health Sciences Center. Prior to practicing medicine, Magnuson received an accounting degree from Arizona State University.
