New Psychiatrist Joins DRMC

DANVILLE, Va. (Sept. 15, 2009) - Dr. Thomas R. Rowell, a psychiatrist, has joined the medical staff of DRMC, working at Cross-Roads Psychiatric Services P.C.

Prior to relocating to Danville, Dr. Rowell served as a resident physician in psychiatry at the University of Virginia.

“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Rowell to DRMC,” said Jerel Humphrey, DRMC CEO.  “We are constantly searching for outstanding physicians to join our team, and I am sure Dr. Rowell is going to be a valuable asset to not only DRMC, but our community as well.”

Throughout his professional career, Rowell has won various awards including Chief Psychiatry Resident.  He has also been involved in a number of professional memberships such as the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, Christian Medical Dental Association and the American Psychiatric Association.

“Everyone at the hospital has been very welcoming,” commented Dr. Rowell.  “I am excited to take on this role and serve the Dan River community.”

In addition to his achievement in the field of medicine, Dr. Rowell has also received military awards for his service in the U.S Army and Navy.

Danville Regional is the leading medical center in the Dan River Region of Virginia and North Carolina, providing open heart surgery and advanced cancer treatment. Approximately 140 physicians are on the medical staff. The medical center employs approximately 1,435 people.
