Recruitment Program is Successful
DANVILLE, Va. - (July 13, 2006) - Danville Regional Medical Center will host a Nursing Job Fair next Monday as part of its nurse recruitment campaign.
Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses are invited to come to the Medical Center between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday to learn more about job opportunities for nurses.
They will meet nurse managers, take tours of the Medical Center and be treated to refreshments throughout the day, said Kathy Johnson, Human Resources Recruiter. "Our nurse managers are excited about talking with nurses about the patient-centered environment at Danville Regional," she said. "Nurses will be able to get the feel of the Medical Center and learn more about the opportunities in their areas of special interest."
The Medical Center is pleased with the preliminary results of the nurse recruitment campaign, which began in June. So far, 11 nurses have been hired since the campaign began. "We're delighted with the response," said Richard Lawley, Assistant Administrator for Human Resources. "The message is spreading that Danville Regional is an organization that offers nurses a workplace where they are appreciated and have the opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge."
Currently, the Medical Center is offering a series of bonus incentives for registered nurses and licensed practical nurses hired into the areas of medical-surgical units, critical care and the emergency department.
The Medical Center has hired a total of 32 nurses in the past ninety days. "We are fortunate in that we have not experienced the full impact of the nationwide nursing shortage at Danville Regional," said Lawley. "However, we need additional experienced nurses, particularly in the medical-surgical areas, critical care and the emergency department," he added.
