Plastic Suregeon Joins Staff at Danville Regional

Dr. Guido Gutter has 21 Years Experience and is Board-Certified

DANVILLE, VA - (January 8, 2007) - Guido P. Gutter, MD, a board-certified plastic surgeon, has joined the medical staff of Danville Regional Medical Center.

Dr. Gutter's practice, Blue Ridge Plastic Surgery, has offices in Danville at 201 Main Street, Suite 220 and in Martinsville at 319 Hospital Drive, Suite 101 (Telephone: 888.374.8436).

Trained at Duke University Medical Center, Dr. Gutter continued to practice plastic surgery in Durham since 1989. As a Clinical Assistant Professor at Duke, he trained numerous residents in plastic surgery. He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

"We are delighted that Dr. Gutter will be performing surgery at the Medical Center," said Art Doloresco, Chief Executive Officer. "We continue to attract quality physicians to our staff to provide residents with the medical services they need right here at home so they do not have to travel out of town for specialty services."

"Cosmetic surgery, as part of plastic surgery, can be different than other types of surgery," Dr. Gutter says. "Most patients are healthy and are interested in improving their appearance. We analyze their complaint and problem and see if we can improve on it. A cosmetic surgeon has to have an understanding of what `beauty' is and what surgery can and will change in the appearance of the patient. Every patient has a different problem and desire for change."

Having offices located in both Danville and Martinsville will "meet the needs of patients who prefer to have their procedures performed in another community to maintain privacy," added Dr. Gutter.

Common cosmetic surgical procedures include: Botox injection, face lifting, eyelid surgery, fat injections and fillers, rhinoplasty (nose surgery), otoplasty (lop-ear correction), breast reduction, breast augmentation, breast lift, abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), liposuction (body contouring), chemical peel and scar revision.

A native of Switzerland, Dr. Gutter received his medical degree from the University of Zurich. His surgical education was done at the Medical College of Ohio and Duke University Medical Center. Further education and practice in cosmetic surgery was obtained in Zurich, Switzerland.

"We are happy to be living in this region where there is less traffic and stress than living in a fast growing area such as Raleigh-Durham," Dr. Gutter said. "This area is beautiful and has great recreational attractions."

In their spare time, Dr. Gutter and his wife enjoy exercising, cooking, modern art and traveling. They have three college age children.
