Local health leaders welcome Dr. Leon Abram, with more than 20 years of spinal surgery experience, to Danville.

Abram is practicing at the Danville Orthopedic Spine Center, a division of the Danville Orthopedic Clinic, as a traumatic spinal disorder surgeon specializing in adult and pediatric reconstructive spine surgical procedures, according to a Danville Regional Medical Center news release.

“I look forward to working with and helping the Dan River Region residents with their spinal needs,” Abram said in a statement.  “My family and I are excited to become a part of this community and take advantage of the great activities that are offered.”

Before joining Danville Regional’s medical staff, Abram was an active staff member of Boca Raton Community Hospital, North Broward Medical Center and Pinecrest Rehab Hospital.

“Dr. Abram has an extensive background and is a high-quality, dedicated orthopedic spine surgeon,” said DRMC CEO Eric Deaton in a statement.  “His unique expertise will be a tremendous asset for this community.”

During his career, Abram developed spinal instrumentation used in major reconstructive procedures and helped pioneer the development of minimally invasive spinal surgery equipment.

He is a frequent lecturer at international spinal conferences, a faculty member in post-graduate educational programming and is one of a few spinal surgeons fully trained in all aspects of spinal reconstructive surgery, including motion preservation procedures such as dynamic stabilization and disc replacements.
