The care was simply amazing.
During the past year, I have read many articles condemning Danville Regional Medical Center, with very few complimentary ones.
One Nov. 11, I found it necessary to visit the Emergency Department with pneumonia. I received excellent care while there. Within an hour, I was given a breathing treatment, had a chest X-ray and all my vital signs were checked. Within four hours, I was admitted to a room. The care was simply amazing. I was asked almost hourly if I needed anything, which I seldom did. When I did have a need, it was provided promptly.
We all in Danville should support our hospital. I know most are still upset that it was sold to LifePoint Hospitals Inc., but that is done and we should move on. I admit that as a past contributor to the old Memorial Hospital of Danville’s many building funds, I, too, was upset at the sale. However, that is over. The service is great, the facility is as clean as any I have seen and the employees there - at least all that I came in contact with - are superior in every regard.
The many letters of the past complaining about the service, quality, etc. were written, I am sure, with good intentions. However, it may be that the hospital needs kinder patients with a little patience. That would go a long way toward improving service, attitudes, and I am sure would make for a much more pleasant stay.
