Great facility

To the editor:

I congratulate the people of Danville and Martinsville for their superb wound treatment centers that are located in both the Danville hospital as well as the Martinsville hospital.

Dr. Henry Bridges, a knowledgeable and kind physician, heads the two centers. As by chance, I was a patient at the Martinsville facility and can attest to the highly skilled staff.

In September 2009, I received severe cuts on my legs from an accident with my garden tiller. The rescue squad took me to the Danville Regional Medical Center Emergency Department where the doctors did a superb job cleaning and stitching my very deep wounds.

The day before my stitches were removed by emergency room personnel, I noticed the sign “Wound Center” on the side of the Danville hospital. Several inquiries led me to the wound treatment center in Martinsville.

The entire staff was most professional. Initially swabs were taken to see if I had any infection and, if so, what kind. Each time pictures were taken of my wounds and measurements made. Each time my wounds were cleaned and dressed. If I had to sit in the waiting room at all, it was for no more than five minutes.

I am confident that the staff at the Danville Wound Center is as highly trained and competent. If you have a severe wound, ask for a referral to one of these two marvelous facilities.
